Last night, we had our 2021 Carnival Lip Sync.  The Carnival Lip Sync theme this year was Blast from the Past.   Two bunks paired together randomly, one cabin from boys camp and one from girls camp.   It could be the youngest boy’s cabin with the oldest girls cabin or they could be the same age!  Yet another opportunity to meet other campers within our summer family!  It’s a lot of fun to watch the campers get creative and have a ball with each other, while dancing and singing to their group song.  The winning team were the cabins of Claridge and the Tigers who entertained with Michael Jackson’s Thriller!

Today was a special day at Camp Green Lane.

Today was Carnival, and for many of us, it’s our favorite day of the summer. After a morning of Super Clean Up and Carnival booth set-up time, the Dome was transformed into the boardwalk, packed with carnival food, games and prizes, and did we mention the food?

There was Rita’s water ice, Philly soft pretzels, popcorn and the longest line of the day was for cotton candy. Everyone in camp seemed to enjoy at least one of the food stations, but many of us enjoyed all of it.

Each cabin also ran a booth where campers could play for prizes. There were football tosses and hockey shots, a marriage booth and plenty of other games of skill and chance. Outside on Cadet Boy Lawn were giant inflatable rides, while the pool was transformed into a water park with floating obstacles to navigate. Some brave counselors manned the dunk tank and it looked like every bunk in camp stopped by the photo booth for a group shot or a picture with their besties.

Following the festivities, we had free swim for the girls and then the boys to cool off before our BBQ dinner. And then finally, tonight is the main event of the day—Carnival Dance.

On this night, we’ll crown a Carnival King and Queen, an annual tradition that goes back generations. But tonight will be special for another reason, too: it’s going to be our first all-camp dance of the summer.

So if you’ll excuse us, we have to shower and get ready! See you tonight at the Globe!
