When you come to camp, you learn all kinds of cool things.

Maybe you’ll learn how to swim. Or how to throw a football. Or how to paddle a canoe.

Our daily schedule is made up of all kinds of activities that offer a chance to try something new, or get better at a favorite sport or game. For example, this summer, Uncle Adam has been teaching us how to play Pickleball on the Boy’s Hardtop every day. Pickleball may be new for a lot of campers, but it’s a ton of fun and many cabins have picked it up. It’s even become a popular Free Play destination, right up there with Archery and BB1 because anyone can play.

You see it all day long, campers trying new games or choosing their own activities during Choice, a time for more intensive instruction and coaching. One young camper, Cedric, tried lacrosse for the first time this week and he was proud to report “I shoot it pretty hard!” Another, Samara in Dunes, worked hard during her first time playing and was the last camper to leave at the end of the period.

Later in the day, both were eager to ask about the next time they could play (tomorrow, at Choice again).

Camp Green Lane is a place where we discover all kinds of cool things. We learn a lot about ourselves during our time here. We learn a lot about our best friends while we’re here, too.

But we learn a lot of pretty neat skills, too.
