Camp Green Lane Blog Post July 28th

The Green Lane Kitchen got quite a workout today.

Today was Cooking Camp-Within-a-Camp, one of the most anticipated days in the Dining Hall of the summer. Outside of Cabaret, today is probably the day that features the most exotic and delicious bites of a Green Lane summer.

This year’s event brought a host of professional chefs and some aspiring youngsters to the Dining Hall for a food faceoff. This year’s theme was “Around the World” and the chefs created menus according to that broad directive.

Campers were broken into 5 teams and paired with one of the following chefs:

* Todd Bergman

* Justin Goldstein

* Chad Rosenthal

* Scott Stein

* Defending champions Jesse Goldstein and Luke Rosenthal

The tasting took place during lunch and people were still talking hours later about things they ate like the fried plantains, cheesesteaks, cheese sticks, water ice, smashburgers, chicken tacos, brisket grilled cheese, hot chocolate tiramisu, hot honey pizza pockets, and deep-fried oreos.

As delicious as all of that sounds, it is a competition, and in the end it was Chef Justin Goldstein and his team of campers who took home this year’s title. That’s our guy!

I wonder what he has planned for dinner.
