Camp Green Lane Blog Post August 4th

Last night was all about the boys.

Tonight is for the Female Camper Captains who will participate in The Amazing Race.

Prior to the creation of this event, there were several versions of tasks and activities for female camper captains. The boys always participated in Rope Burn, but the roles on the girls’ side have evolved over time. Jesse Levin and Jesse Cohen created the Amazing Race in 2014.

This evening is the 11th running. In this event, the female Camper Captains race against each other to complete a series of mental and physical challenges with clues spread across camp.

They must perform or solve them on BB1 in front of their entire team. It’s exciting. It’s terrifying. And it’s something these girls have been looking forward to for years.

They have been drilling all week in preparation. Some of the girls have been passing down study guides from year to year. They were out on BB1 earlier, working on their free throws; and they’ve been quizzing themselves on all kinds of camp trivia that might come up in the race. You never know what might be asked!

Green Camper Captains Sadie Betesh, Lexi Israel will face White Camper Captains Hadley Cohen, Brooke Walcoff in a race that typically finishes with the competitors smashing a shirt free from a bucket of ice, putting it on and lining up for a free throw on the basketball court.

I was excited for Rope Burn last night. I’m nervous for the Amazing Race tonight!

I hope they studied. I hope they perform well under pressure.

I hope they don’t miss!
