Camp Green Lane 100th Summer Blog Post, July 3rd

, July 3, 2026

If you ask almost any Green Laner to name their favorite day of the summer, there’s a good chance they’ll say Carnival! And today, it was easy to see why.

The Dome transformed into a big top filled with creative, and somewhat hilarious booths (ie: Opinions with the Orioles, where campers can sit and ask one of our youngest boy campers their opinion on anything), all run by our campers and counselors! Campers spent the day hopping from booth to booth trying their luck, winning prizes, and cheering each other on. From classic carnival games to imaginative creations you won’t find anywhere else, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The fun didn’t stop inside the Dome. Out on Cadet Lawn, giant inflatables kept everyone bouncing, racing, and laughing, while our always-popular dunk tank gave campers the chance to soak their supervisors and group leaders. At the pool, obstacle courses added an extra splash of excitement as campers raced across floating challenges.

Of course, no carnival would be complete without amazing treats. The smell of popcorn filled the air, cotton candy disappeared almost as quickly as it was spun, Philly Soft pretzels satisfied hungry campers, and Rita’s Water Ice helped everyone stay cool.

Carnival is one of those magical Green Lane traditions filled with laughter, friendly and silly competition, and campers making memories they’ll be talking about long after summer ends.

And the excitement isn’t over when Carnival ends! Tonight, campers will get dressed up for the first dance of the summer, where we’ll celebrate together and crown our Carnival King and Queen. It’s the perfect ending to one of the most anticipated—and most unforgettable—days of the season.

There’s something special about Carnival Day. It brings together creativity, teamwork, tradition, and just plain fun in a way that only Camp Green Lane can. We can’t wait to do it all again next year. But first, we’ve got a dance to attend!
