Camp Green Lane 100th Summer Blog Post, July 25th

Visiting Day should be a national holiday.

Today was such an awesome day here at camp. Visiting Day traditions were born and others continued for an ump-teenth summer between the Arches. Families reunited, old friends reconnected and our hearts are full this evening after hugging and kissing our way through a perfect day at Camp Green Lane.

Our bellies might be a little full, too.

Visiting Day is like Christmas, (or Chanukah)  in July at CGL and today was another amazing one. We hope you all had a wonderful day at camp with us!

Just after the end of another fantastic Visiting Day, the Survivor music came over the speakers and got us all down to BB1 for an all-camp game of Rock-Paper-Scissors. The game started with every camper in camp on the court. By the end, there was only one:  Kolson Clarke from the Cadets.

In a couple of weeks, the points will be added up and a Survivor winner will be crowned.

Across most of the conversations I had today, we talked about what an awesome summer we’re having. But also how little time we sadly have left here.

Now we’re on the other side of Visiting Day, which means hyper speed days are here. So we’re going to make sure to savor these next few days, the quiet before Color War buzz starts buzzing and the inevitable close of another camping season approaches.

It was so good to see all of you today.

The year has lots of great days. Christmas and Thanksgiving and Hanukkah are all fantastic.

But I’d put Visiting Day right up there with ’em.
