Camp Green Lane 100th Summer Blog Post, July 29th

Everyone here is so excited for Color War. It’s all the talk around CGL, from the pool to the picnic tables; who’s going to be captain, what will the themes be, when the heck is it gonna break???

With all the anticipation in the air, and rumors swirling of various Fake Breaks in the works, we gave everyone a taste of Color War tonight at dinner.

A taste of silence, that is.

During the week of Color War, all of our meals are silent: no talking. If you need something at the table, you have to write a note. Anyone caught talking during a Silent Meal loses a point for their team, so these are important events!

Tonight during Chicken Marsala dinner, we popped a Silent Meal on camp, disguised as a Survivor event, and give everyone a taste of what Color War’s going to be like—whenever it does break. Each division competed against each other to see who breaks the least silence tonight.

I love Silent Meals, and tonight I tried out all new tricks to catch anyone who makes a peep in the Dining Hall. We’ve used mirrors and ladders and secret hiding places in past summers, so there’s no telling where I’ll be lurking this color war.

Everyone is so excited for Color War to break. A lot of people wish it would break already.

Well, be careful what you wish for.

Because Silent Meals are coming … and so am I!
