Camp Green Lane 100th Summer Blog Post, July 4th
You always have to weather a storm to find a rainbow.
Well, Camp Green Lane was treated to a beautiful rainbow Friday evening before the Carnival Dance. A brief rainstorm chased away the worst of this week’s heatwave and brought in cooler temperatures and the most perfectly beautiful rainbow that stretched from arch to arch. Magical.
Then we got all dressed up, crowned a king and queen (congrats Asher Serge and Juliet Doyle!) and danced the night away, capping an awesome Carnival and our first week of summer 2026.
Today we beat the last of the heat by going to the movies. Seniors and Greeks went to see “Supergirl” and the rest of camp saw the new Minions movie. We ate popcorn and drank soda and lemonade and reclined our seats for a cool way to spend July 4th. We all had hot dogs for lunch and we’ll wear Red, White and Blue for dinner, and I’m betting on a dance party in the dining hall full of stars and stripes.
Tonight, the temperatures will continue to fall. The Senior Boys will hold their 6th annual July 4 Hockey Tournament, tomorrow we’ll get back to our regular schedule and get back to business, CGL-style.
Camp 1, Mother Nature 0.
One of the shorts-and-shortsiest weeks of summer has come to an end.
Week 1 was amazing.
Week 2, with the IronPigs on the horizon, promises to be even better.
Maybe we’ll even see a few more rainbows.
