Welcome back to the Greatest Camp Blog in the World.

Welcome to all of our new friends and all of our old ones, too.

This is the Camp Green Lane Blog, your daily, digital Field Office fix from the heart of CGL. Each day, we’ll write a love letter home from camp with all the news that’s fit to print.

We’ve been here all week preparing for the greatest summer ever. Summer 2026 is going to be an extra-special one around here as we’re celebrating 100 years of Camp Green Lane.

So let’s start Blog No. 1 there: what is Camp Green Lane?

It’s a special place where magical things happen. It’s where lifelong friendships are made and unforgettable memories are forged. For a lot of people, camp is their Happy Place.

I read something a few weeks ago about how people seeking good health and well-being are encouraged make a little time each day to do four things:

  1. Go outside
  2. Sleep better.
  3. Hang out.
  4. Get creative.

No wonder we love camp so much.

We do all of that here.

I’ll say it many times this summer, but unplugging and doing all of the above is such a gift from the world we live in now. It’s rare. And it’s spectacular. Camp is magical for many reasons, but it really starts with the authentic relationships built here and the freedom CGL gives us to make them and grow them for the next few weeks, and beyond.

This week, camp may be a new place for some of you. It is for a lot of counselors joining us for the first time. They’re here now for orientation. They’re getting to know where their cabins are and they’re already discovering their favorite places here at camp. We also have a lot of returning counselors and forever CGLers returning for another summer at camp, too.

They’ve all been preparing—bunks, cubbies, fields and courts—for the campers to arrive Friday. They’ve also been learning a lot about CGL and how to be excellent, caring, watchful counselors.

We’ve also been having some fun, too, like this afternoon’s Scavenger Hunt that had them running across camp for answers to questions like, Who were the counselors of the 2009 Pirates? and Which Upper Staff members have their names on the Color War benches?

Winners get a Wawa gift card.

It’s going to be a magical summer.

It’s going to be an historic 100th summer of CGL.

So welcome back to camp!
