Camp Green Lane Blog June 23
Last night was an awesome night in Camp Green Lane. We had two very important parts of our staff orientation. First, we had a meeting about what makes Camp Green Lane so special. This is something I think about often. How everyone has their own reasons that the time spent between the arches is so memorable to them. As a 6 year old in 1999, my first summer at CGL, I still remember sitting on the bleachers during color war watching the counselors scream and cheer and play . That had a huge impression on me, and seeing how much fun they had gave me a connection to this place. It made me think, I want to come back to camp forever and be one of those awesome counselors one day. I have been lucky enough to be able to do that and for the last three summers. I have been even luckier to be part of our Adult Upper Staff as the Assistant Program Director. Our goal is to make the same impression on our new incoming campers.
The other piece of last night’s orientation was our staff campfire. Each division went down to the lake campfire site to bond, make s’mores and do some fun team building activities. We had Inter counselors participate in a fun bonding activity, Deb and Cadet counselors played a game of thumper and finally Senior and Greek counselors sang songs. Everyone had plenty of s’mores and a great time under the stars. We can’t wait to do these activities with the campers! Only 2 more days’ Green Lane family! Can’t wait to see you soon!
Yours in camping,
