Happy Tuesday!

Today was a great day in camp, because it was Inter Camp Day!! And not only that, but it was the first time we’ve had it since pre-Covid, so a lot of our campers, counselors, and upper staff were experiencing it for the very first time.

Inter Camp Day is when we compete with another local camp, in this case Nock-A-Mixon, in a few select athletic activities. Today, our Boys Inter Camp teams traveled to Nock-A-Mixon to compete with their boys in basketball and soccer, and the Nock-A-Mixon girls teams came to us! Everyone else at camp got to watch and cheer on our girls as they worked hard and kicked butt!

Everyone played to the best of their abilities, and it was fun to practice good sportsmanship with a little friendly competition outside of camp.

Over the last two evenings, each cabin has had the opportunity to participate in Casino Night, which is where we deck out the GLOBE like an old school casino with a variety of games, some great music, and lots of delicious finger foods. Each camper received 10 tickets to start, and by the end of the evening, they could exchange 10 tickets for one entry into a raffle to win the prize of their choosing. Prizes this year included a DoorDash-ed meal, a day of golf cart rides, a coveted free period in the White House air conditioning, and a movie night with the cabin of their choice.

The tradition for the older campers has become to attend dressed in black and wearing sunglasses to hide your poker face. While the older kids sported their slick casino looks two nights ago, it was adorable to watch the younger kids last night following suit in black shirts that may or may not have been intended for summer dances. Regardless, they were dressed to the 9’s, and everyone enjoyed taking a few risks to try and win something special for their cabin.

Tonight, I am excited to experience Freddy Hill’s mini golf and ice cream for myself as I accompany the Inter Boys on their field trip! I’m looking forward to experiencing this CGL tradition for myself, and to likely getting my butt kicked by all of the Inter Boys. At least there will be vanilla soft serve to ease my pain!
