Camp Green Lane Blog Post
Happy Heyday!
And, more importantly, Happy International Camp Kindness Day!
Today is a day where we make extra efforts to make the world a kinder, better place. We talk with our campers and counselors about how small, positive interactions snowball into big ones, and that by being kind to one another, we can better celebrate each other’s successes empathize with the people around us.
In addition to our regularly scheduled programming, each Division had the opportunity to participate in our Camp Kindness Day activities, including decorating the sidewalk in front of the canteen and White House with beautiful chalk art and messages of encouragement and positivity and hanging notes with kind words and inspiration on the walls of the canteen.
The Greeks traveled outside of camp today to volunteer with the Jewish Relief Agency (JRA) in Philadelphia, helping to deliver food to elderly residents in the community. By contributing their time and energy, they set a standard for kindness and represented Camp Green Lane proudly with their actions.
All in all, it has been a wonderful day of kindness, goodness, and mitzvahs. In the spirit of International Camp Kindness Day, we encourage you to go a little out of your way to demonstrate a little extra kindness today. If you need inspiration, here are some words of kindness contributed by our campers today:
“Make mistakes and learn from them.”
“Don’t worry. I got you.”
“If you fall down, get back up because that means you are powerful and have self-confidence.”
“Don’t worry about the things you can’t change.”
“You can do this! I believe in you!”
“If plan A doesn’t work, there are 25 other letters to go.”
“Always remember to have respect for yourself.”
“You are stronger than you think! Don’t give up!”
“Roses are red, violets are blue, I like you, and you should too!”
