Camp Green Lane Blog Post
Happy Visiting Day!!!
It was such a blast getting to host you all here for the day, and I cannot stress how impressed I am as a Visiting Day first-timer by your efficiency and ingenuity when it comes to packing and prepping for the day! Part CGL-Tailgate, part family reunion, it was so special to see kids with their families and to put some lovely faces with the names we’ve been hearing for the past few weeks.
I also loved seeing what each family brought food-wise for their campers; it seemed like sushi, pizza, and Starbucks were the big hitters, but it was fun to see some home cooked meals in the mix, too. We also thoroughly enjoyed watching you swim and play with your campers, and we hope it gave you a little taste of what a day here at CGL is like. Plus, how great was that weather?!
While it was amazing to meet so many of you and we wish we could do it all over again soon, we are really excited about everything else the summer has in store for us!! Tonight, campers will enjoy a traveling circus variety show by The Great Dubois, which we’re sure will have everyone ooh-ing and aah-ing with their magnificent feats.
Tomorrow we return to our camp schedule, but now everyone is eagerly anticipating those three booms that could come at any time…That’s right, Color War is on the horizon, and the entire camp is already thinking ahead to the Color War break. Of course there will be a few extra surprises before then, but once Visiting Day has come and gone, it truly could break at any moment…
I’ll keep you posted on all of the Color War excitement! I hope you all had safe and easy journeys home, and that you enjoyed your Visiting Day as much as we did. We know that it can be tough to send your kids to camp for the summer, and that Visiting Day can be emotional for some families, but I hope you also were able to see a glimpse of how well they are cared for, and the fun they are having here at Camp Green Lane this summer.
