Camp Green Lane Blog Post, August 3rd
Day 2 is almost over and it was as competitive as the first day of Color War!
Today’s schedule was filled with cabin activities in the morning and afternoon, with plenty of rallies and swims mixed in. Rallies are when both teams retreat to a part of camp, usually the Globe or the Gym, to learn the songs they’ll sing Saturday night in the Sing.
The Sing is the biggest event of Color War, so it’s important everyone learns their songs—and their musical parts and their harmonies. The songwriters worked hard to write amazing songs, and soon we’ll get to hear what they’ve been working on.
The highlight of Day 2 was this evening’s Scavenger Hunt. An annual tradition, the Scavenger Hunt calls on every camper in camp, from the youngest to the oldest, to complete a series of 25 tasks. Some are very straightforward (solve a Rubix Cube fastest) and others require some thought and creativity (design a cake according to your team’s theme).
For an hour after dinner, campers and counselors raced across camp searching for things like misplaced sporting goods while other tried to build the highest house of cards, while others tried to think of everyone in camp whose first and last names start with the same letter (example: Sadie Solomon).
At the end of the hour, everyone went back to their cabins to get in longs and longs (it is delightfully chilly this week) and rejoined on BB1 for the highly anticipated male staff basketball game.
See you tomorrow!
