Camp Green Lane Blog Post July 17th
Once again, our Camp-Within-A-Camp programs were in full swing today at Camp Green Lane! Today was Day 2 of the Matt Paul Basketball Academy. Day 1 was a huge hit, so campers were eager to lace ’em up for Day 2! We also had with us today Neal Pollack, a current Camp Parent to run our Jiu-Jitsu/Mixed Martial Arts Camp-Within-A-Camp. Jiu-Jitsu is a wonderful activity for campers as it promotes self-control, self-confidence, and concentration. Since Jiu-Jitsu is more about individual growth than team competition, there is no pressure of “letting down the team”, thus campers are able to fully relax and enjoy themselves during the lesson. Learning new skills in a pressure-free environment — it’s a win/win and the kids loved it!
Intercamp practices continued today as Camp Green Lane prepares for its upcoming games against Camp Nock-A-Mixon tomorrow. Campers always get pumped up when they get to represent CGL in competitive games.
Our out-of-camp trips rotation continues tonight, this time with the Senior Boys, Senior Girls, and Greeks heading to the Movie Tavern! Movie Tavern is a modern movie theater where you’re served dinner during the movie. Dinner and a movie on a Tuesday night? Yes please!
