Camp Green Lane Blog Post July 21st
We’ve been talking a lot about kindness and generosity within the confines of camp, but today, the Greeks got an opportunity to do some good outside of the arches. This morning, they boarded buses in the Circle and headed into Philadelphia for a day of service.
CGL Greeks volunteered at the Jewish Relief Agency, where they packed meals and then delivered them to a nearby housing complex. JRA serves thousands of people across Greater Philadelphia. Each summer, the Greek division donates their time and energy to help out a worthy cause and today was no different.
The campers were filled with pride when they returned to camp after doing their service. They were also filled with more delicious food, finishing their day at the Reading Terminal Market.
As for the rest of us, it was back to regular camp programming today after an exciting run-up to Visiting Day. Today was Sayday on the schedule, so it was Elective in the morning for the boys while the girls started the day with Clinic. Inter Girls played Leagues, the Debs had Instructional Swim and the Senior Girls did dance, soccer, cooking and lake. Inter Boys were at flag football, basketball, kickball and tennis, while the Cadets had Instructional Swim and the Senior Boys had leagues.
We had bagels for lunch and in the afternoon, it was more cabin activities before the girls had free swim fifth period and the boys had swim sixth.
Tonight, the Senior Girls are going bowling and the rest of us will be spread around camp for our own evening activities.
We have another exciting week coming up with Halloween, the Triathlon and Biathlon all in the next few days. And there’s even a touch of Color War buzz starting to generate, which will only grow over the coming days.
Check back tomorrow for more news!
