Camp Green Lane Blog Post July 27th

Today was Someday. But it was really Visiting Day Plus-1.
That’s because camp shifts with the passing of Visiting Day each summer. As we alluded to yesterday, Visiting Day represents a turning of the page into the second half of summer and the realization that two weeks from Wednesday, we’ll all be home.
Of course, the passing of Visiting Day also starts the countdown to Color War. At our first post-Visiting Day meal last night at dinner, the cheers of 1-2-3-4, We want Color War! went up. This morning, the prediction chart also went up in the Dining Hall as each cabin in camp tries to guess, to the minute, when they think Color War will break.
Color War will hang massively over camp until it does break, but as I told our division this morning at our weekly meeting, when it comes, it comes. Until then, there’s only so much time left to do all the little things we may take for granted during a Green Lane summer. Use these days to do all the things before we’re out of time.
For some, that means preparing for this week’s CGL Triathlon. For others, it means finishing projects in Arts & Crafts, or searching for the next big catch out of the lake during fishing time or signing up for that one elective you’ve wanted to try all summer. Everyone is finishing Leagues regular season games and Tournaments are in full swing.
A new week brings new opportunities for fun here at camp. This week’s big events are the Triathlon on Tuesday and the Halloween Dance on Friday. Before that, Greeks are headed to Ocean City  tomorrow. Senior Girls will visit Freddy Hill Monday night. There’s also Pals Scavenger Hunts this week and a Movie Under the Stars.
And who knows, maybe a few more surprises, too …
