Camp Green Lane Summer Blog-June 25th
Today was the perfect day to start our daily schedule! We ran our first full day on our 7 day schedule- Someday. Just a reminder at Camp Green Lane, we do not use the days of the week, instead we use a 7 day rotation with our days called; Someday, Anyday, Oneday, Heyday, Sayday, Playday and Funday. This way, the campers do not miss anything due to weather, trips or special event days! Campers started today learning about the Summer’s Clinic and Elective choices. Clinic, a sport that the campers will get instruction, while our Electives are our non-sport, non-instructional activities. The Campers have Clinic 6 of the 7 days of our schedule while elective is every other day. This is a choice period that the campers choose. We change these each week, although campers can choose to remain in one that they like over and over. They submitted their choices today, so we can start both clinic and elective tomorrow! After the Clinic/Elective presentation, the campers made their choices and they were off to enjoy the beautiful camp day. I watched the Inter boys learning how to play volleyball, the Inter girls having lots of laughs at mini golf and the Gamma girls playing basketball. It is so nice to see everyone just enjoying being together at camp and having some fun with a regular day. I love seeing the program run so smoothly as camper’s transition from activity to activity throughout the day. Everyone is excited to see what they are making at cooking or arts and crafts. People are jumping in the pool excited for their swim test and finally they cannot wait to try out the giant lake slide.
Tonight we will have our first divisional evening activities. Both the
Inter Boys and Inter Girls will be playing their own versions, separately of Meet Your Match to make new friends within their division. The Cadet boys are playing elimination Newcomb and the Deb Girls are playing Message to Garcia (my personal favorite, a Camp Green Lane Version of Whisper Down the lane that takes them throughout all of Camp). The Senior girls are playing PANIC! (they’re given a theme and have to present a skit within a couple minutes) while the Senior boys are playing Basketball under the lights on BB1. Finally the Greeks will be having their annual speed meet. We are excited for some good old fashioned fun camp days to continue. It’s great to be back in the swing of things!
Yours in camping
