Summer Blog Post July 22nd
Happy Friday!!
That’s right – today was a total break in our camp schedule full of fun activities.
Last night was the big CGL fireworks show. An outside crew from Celebration Fireworks, came in and set up by the lake, and the entire camp gathered on Cadet Lawn for the show. It was a sight to see, and a unique way to kick off a weekend of fun. Be sure to check out the drone footage we posted on FaceBook.
This morning was super clean up, followed by an awesome pizza party lunch catered by ilovethepizzawagon.com food trucks in the Circle. Campers got to choose from cheese, pepperoni, or white made on wood fired pizza ovens. It was a great alternative to our normal Friday barbecue lunch (don’t worry, we’re making up the barbecue tomorrow, with a few extra surprises in tow!) Everyone enjoyed the special mix-up, and it set the afternoon perfectly for some more steamy afternoon play.
Tonight, we will have our regular Friday night services and award our CGL CHIPS and COW awards. We are all looking forward to gathering as a camp and acknowledging some awesome campers and staff for the week.
Tomorrow is our 2nd and hopefully last Virtual Visiting Day, and we hope you are as excited as we are! Your campers are looking forward to facetiming you and sharing camp with you. We will have a grilled corn vendor joining us for lunch, as well as a Kona Ice truck to help cool everyone off in the afternoon. Then, we will have a Magic Show at night! Can you believe we are over halfway through camp already?!
I do want to give a shout-out today to some pretty amazing people at camp – our infirmary team. For the past few weeks, they have been taking incredible care of all of our campers, whether with routine medications, cuts and scrapes, or any other malady. They work tirelessly every day to make sure every camper is well cared for, comforted, and gets the care and attention that they need. I totally understand how hard it must be have a camper away from home who isn’t feeling well, but I assure you that they are in great hands here with our team of nurses and doctors at the CGL infirmary.
We will see all of you tomorrow for visiting day facetime calls! See you then!!
