Summer Blog Post- June 30th
It was a beautiful SayDay at Camp Green Lane today!
Last night, our Senior Boys went on the first overnight of the summer. They brought all of their camping supplies up to the overnight site, where they pitched tents, grilled hot dogs and s’mores over a campfire, and even had their version of a cabin rope burn. Each Division will have the opportunity to experience an overnight throughout the summer.
Last night was also the Debs’ turn to go to Freddy Hill for mini golf and ice cream. Tonight the senior girls are mini golfing!
Tonight at dinner, we announced the theme for this year’s Carnival: Talk to the Animals.
Carnival is our first special event of the year! On Monday, July 4th, we kick off Carnival with our lip sync competition. Cabins are paired up randomly and will need to create a lip sync based on this year’s theme. Some of the submissions so far include Baby Shark, Eye of the Tiger, and The Lion Sleeps Tonight. We can’t wait to see these cabins collaborate in the coming days. We’ll tell you the cabin pairs tomorrow once everyone gets to work.
With only two days of our camp week left, I have had the opportunity to meet almost every camper as they pass through my cooking activity. While making ooey gooey monkey bread has been a huge success, getting to know these campers has been the real treat. I can’t wait to continue to watch your kids play, grow, and become stronger and more independent leaders and teammates as the summer goes on.
We’ll tell you more about carnival tomorrow – for now, it’s free play! Time to hit up the canteen!
